Well…

Friday, June 23rd, 2006

Well, this week has gone well enough I suppose, well, erm, yeah, I’ll get to that later…

Anyways, Mid-years are over, joyous is me, very joyous. Been fiddling with my website lately, drawing, polishing up my CV. Got more work back from my home group teacher today, two pieces of work from IT studies, where I am flagelating the competition to death with a VGA cable, 76% on a major programming test (probably the highest mark in the class, again…), 88% on the first major database assignment, again, probably one of the highest marks. So tah whoot for me. Mind you, I’m pulling all this off essentially sitting on one hand.

My iPod mysteriously decided to work again this morning, after being stone-cold dead for the past few weeks (No disk activity at all). You know what I did do though? Pulled the case off with a butter knife, prodded a few things, oggled at how small and cute the HDD to the thing is (I seriously want to pull the hdd out and cook up some little enclosure for it, with a nice little connector or somesuch, it’s just SOO CUTE ^_^), and then put it back together. Shazam, it worked again. How odd… So that saves me a good hundred or so dollars I intended on spending to replace the failed device, good good good. I still am not sure just what went wrong with it though, but atleast it works now.

Shouldn’t of gotten my hopes up about my single life coming to an end, things took a right royal turn for the worse. Bloody females. Thankfully, as it turns out, it was from no fault of my own, so atleast that’s only half the kick to my egos nuts, I guess… Ohwell, plenty of fish, but still, disapointing, I really liked her…

Anyhow, looks like it’ll be another few weeks before I get the tax moneys, I was under the impression that all the tax doodads happened this month, apparently it’s next month. Bugger. Ohwell, I can wait. Eh, can’t blame me for forgetting when tax returns get lodged, I’ve only done one before…

Oh, and I appologise for the shameless ad before, I could have probably alerted people to the existance of my forum in a better way, but fuckit, it’s done now. And anyway, I’m the lord, master and gatekeeper of p.tt-f, so it’s not like I gotta answer to anyone. Well, maybe Owen… Please don’t hurt me…

Aaaand, that’s it.

Oh, that’s not quite it, I’m going to be searching for jobs in the SA/Adelaide area for next year, probably going to be looking at data cabling, IT, networking, or something. Probably throw my CV at an ISP or two/three, a cabling company, flinders uni and hospital aswell most likely. If you’re reading this and have a position for some noobie like me, I would love to hear it.

Been having fun lately re-doing my website, it’s all purdy-like now, still a bit bare on content, but I’ll be getting to that. Decided to do a table based layout, 2×2, with the bottom two panes for the sidebar and content, and the upper two merged into the header. Even made a nice colourscheme and header image from a photo I took on a previous holiday. I had a lot of fun getting everything setup so that my main content pages would display inside an iframe that I wedged into the bottom-right table cell, was surprised at how well it worked, but O Lazyweb, how can I provide a link to someone that will go straight to the blog inside the correct target frame?

Anyhow, been busy drawing aswell. Did some more work on the Rural stations, adding a few elements and doing some graphical touch-ups on some others. Also got back to work on the city stations, which were originally drawn by Singaporekid and Purno, but I’ve now claimed them for my own cunning plans. I’ve been drawing all sorts of things for that, and it’s come out quite nicely aswell.

As we can see here:

Heres a mockup of the new rural stations. I added another set of sprites for the shelter, and also did some work on the benches, added buffer end-tiles, and did some graphical touch-ups all over the place.

This is a mockup of the new monster, the city stations. This station class is going to be grey, drab, utilitarian (According to wallyweb). Made to sit in the big cities. Lots of large roofed sections, overpasses, shelters, and platforms. These were originally all adapted from some very basic shelters that Singaporekid and Purno drew. I took to them with my mad drawing skillz0rz (well, maybe not) and produced this.

I also did some work to the suburban stations, but nothing too amazing.

Going to be doing some work on my PC soon, gonna get a pair of 17″ flat screen CRT’s, a DVD burner and a 120/160GB hdd to add to the thing. Not a core system upgrade, but I’m working up to that.

So yeah, fun fun fun. I should be studying for an exam I have on friday, but BUGGER IT! :D.

Back

Back on the mainland. Had fun on that wild, lawless island. Spent most of saturday blowing shit up with firecrackers. Learnt some interesting things (Namely, don’t trust father when he’s on higher ground with three fire crackers taped together and a lighter). Spent most of sunday loafing around and trying to fix the thinkpad. It’s going to need a new keyboard or motherboard. Not sure which. Will try to get in touch with a friends father, who works for IBM. Came back on the monday. Had a good lunch at the Penneshaw pub. Was good.

Oh, and my fathers friend, who we were staying with on the Island, gave me about 150+ little firecrackers. Oh what mayhem is to be had…

I’ll do a proper post with some photographs later. At school now without the cameras.

Whoot! Kangaroo Island!

Thursday, June 8th, 2006

Going away to Kangaroo Island for the long weekend, leaving early saturday morning, getting back late monday night. Unless miraculously a wifi point pops up where I’ll be staying, you peeps won’t see me online.

The weather is going to be pretty shitty, and my chest infection is bad enough without going off fishing in crappy weather, so I’ll probably take this time to kick back, relax, and code some .grf’s, play some ttd, ya know. The good stuff.
