Just upgraded to Wordpress 2.0.
Was quite a painless process. Well done, Wordpress creator people thingies!
Heh. Yeah, I’m kinda liking the idea of starting off every post with that icon. Anyway, some more changes. All the pages are disabled, well, not really, just the entries in the sidebar for them are. The weblog has moved to a subdir of /blog, and I’ve created a little index page for the root dir of my site. I’ll pretty it up at some point.
Christmas, christmas. Well, I was all excited yesterday, but today, well, the excitement just wasn’t there. Ohwell. I didn’t have a bad day, and aslong as yesterday fucking rocked, than I guess I haven’t lost anything. It was just a lazy, laid back day. Which was good.
I keep promising to myself that I’ll learn Assembly and C some day. They’re just two things that have been on my agenda for so bloody long, I almost cant remember when they got put there. I suppose I am just a bit of a procrastinator. *cough splutter cough* Yeah, I’m a big bloody procrastinator.
Still haven’t decided what I’m going to do for Liz’s christmas present. I’m tempted to just get a card and throw a $20 in it, but eh. Seems a bit cheap. God knows I can’t get to a store and buy somthing. They’re all shut till Jan 1st. Buggeryfuck.
Oh shit. Forgot Liz reads this blog… ![]()
Tried Jaws CMS. Almost swapped over to it completly, it was a nice piece of software. But a few things just didn’t work.
First off, I had to convert every Wordpress blog entry to Jaws by hand. I couldn’t find any conversion scripts anywhere, and I suck at scripting.
Seccond, RSS, out of the box it just didn’t work.
Third, the built in RSS agregator would pull a ‘500′ error over certain Atom or RSS feeds I fed it. So there goes the chance for creating Planet Tycoon.
Fourth, updated to 0.6.0 beta 2, it certainly looked a whole lot shinier, but it didnt even HAVE rss capabilities at all when I installed it.
I have a feeling that it was my server configuration that was keeping me from getting working RSS the first time, but since the Jaws website was down all day, no-one was alive in the IRC channel, I just had to ditch it.
So for now I’m sticking with Wordpress. For now…
And so I wondered, what if I could control my Laptop and Desktop PC, from one keyboard and mouse, but still retain both screens, and without clunky KVM switching? I searched around, and found Synergy
It works over TCP/IP, so technically it should work over the Internet, not that that’s very usefull, but when you have multiple computers on your desk, you can control all of them from one computer.
In my case, I’m using my laptop, sitting right beneath my Desktop PC’s monitor, and controlling both of them using the Laptop (Because I lurve my laptops keyboard *hugs*).
The software uses a client/server architecture, with the server being the computer in control, and any ammount of clients being controlled by the server pc.
It works on Unix, Windows, and partially on MacOSX, each computer runs it’s own programs, so it isn’t just an extended desktop projected over the network, like some software sollutions (That cost money).
One thing that annoyed me with traditional multi-monitor setups, was that to fully use it, you’d need a very beefy PC to run that ammount of high-load apps on each screen. With this sollution, each PC runs it’s own applications, you just move the cursor between each desktop, and the windows on the other desktop become focused, and you type away.
It’s brilliant If you have multiple PC’s, you need Synergy.
There, that’s my software pimp for the day.
