Some more tweaks

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

Yeah, changed theme again. But Im sticking with a pic of an ICE-3 in the header. Its a different image, but it looks better imo.

I got the idea when I visited the site of Tigert (Brilliant artist who works on various Linux things, google it if you want). Its just the default Wordpress theme with the header image swapped around. Nothing revolutionary. Its been done hundreds of times. I dont want any text at all in the header. It would only clash with the header image. If you want the site name, look at the top of your browser ;).

Eh, Im lazy. Get over it.

(Yeah, I edited this entry a fair bit, I think I should start proof-reading my stuff before I post it.)

Things on the Internet I am sick to fucking death of:

Things on the Internet I am sick to fucking death of:

1: Trolls. See http://whitehand.blogspot.com for an explanation.
2: People who expect everything to be done for them.
3: People who use Linux, that think that anytime somthing needs to be done from the console, its a bug.
4: Idiots on the internet.
5: Anyone who opposes my oppinion that there should be a license to use computers, and that everyone should have to pass a basic competancy test before they can use computers. Aswell as another license to use the internet. These should not be limited by age, creed, profession, or social standing. And be handled by neutral non-profit organizations.

Yeah, this sums up partly what my week has been about. Idiocy. In abundance. And Im bloody well sick of it.

Also, my computer shit itself, turns out that I was correct in that the powersupply was causing instability. It sure as hell runs more stable off of boot-cd’s. Because I cant boot to anything else as the HDD is b0rked, and it appears the Mobo is rooted. It wont remember bios changes, and it has other annoying quirks and instabilities. Ofcourse, since the mobo is quite old, and the CPU (Shitty Jetway Mobo, Athlon XP 2000+) aswell, they will have to both be replaced allong with the HDD.

So heres whats on the purchase list:

1: Abit AN-7 nForce2 Ultra400 AMD SktA board 200->400FSB, 3x DDR400, AGP8x, SATA/RAID, Firewire, audio, LAN: $132.00
2: AMD Athlon XP 2800+ Barton (2.08Ghz) 166FSB SocketA Retail CPU with AMD quiet fan: $165.00
3: Western Digital 80Gb “JD” 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive, 8mb cache: $110.00
4: Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop v3 OEM, USB keyboard & mouse with Tilt-Wheel: $99.00

Im also looking at this case:

Antec Sonata QUIET Black Miditower Case w/380w PSU, door, & Audio, USB & IEEE1394 ports: $181.50

It’ll be a fair chunk of money all up, especially for somone my age, and with my income. My current case is similar to the one shown above, but its beige, and doesnt look anywhere near as cool.

My last lot of spending will most likely be the $105 I owe for my half of the internet (Three month block) and then I might spend some cash on some Magic the Gathering cards.

Oh, and to top it all off. My mother is the biggest computer nubstick in existance. The simple concept of Windows with Titlebars, and Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons confuses her. She bitches that she cant use the things, but she refuses to sit down and practice actually using them.

.

P:GS Section

Friday, July 15th, 2005

I’ve started writing content for the Project Generic Stations section after Krtaylor suggested moving the P:GS website over to my blog. After a few hours pondering I agreed and started work.

They’re in the pages menu on the right, allong with the rest of the stuff.

Please comment on what you think about section here, if you have a good suggestion, I’ll work on adding it in

More work done

Thursday, July 14th, 2005

Some light work done, added a page for Images. I did it in the same style as the files index aswell. This atleast gives me a chance to explain whats in each folder as apposed to expecting everyone to figure it out for themselves.

Oh, I also added categories to the site, I may do some forced linking and stuff so that people view the categories I want them to see when they first get to the page.
